Each fall, our club hosts the Kiwanis Football Challenge, a skills competition for the Toledo Boys & Girls Clubs on the field of The Glass Bowl at the University of Toledo.
Girls and boys, each in four separate age groups (8-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15) compete in punting, passing and place kicking in a fun and engaging competition. Scores are based on distance and accuracy. The day is made complete with healthy snacks and prizes provided by our club.
According to the CDC, regular physical activity in childhood and adolescence improves strength and endurance, helps build healthy bones and muscles, helps control weight, reduces anxiety and stress, increases self-esteem, and may improve blood pressure and cholesterol levels. That's why the Kiwanis Club of Toledo takes pride in providing this out-of-school-time physical activity program and the University of Toledo shares its world-class facilities. But in the end, our Football Challenge is all about kids having fun! And just like our Annual Fishing Derby, the volunteers who give their time to organize this event enjoy it as much as the kids do!
We encourage everyone to support their local Boys & Girls Clubs.
