"Serving the Children of Central Toledo since 1916"

The name "Kiwanis" comes from a Native American term "Nun Keewanis", which means "I make a noise" and was intended to convey the idea "to make oneself known and to impress". The Kiwanis International motto is "We Build". The Kiwanis Club of Toledo has taken these two expressions to heart, along with our own motto of "Working together to serve the youth of central Toledo." As you travel around our wonderful community, just take a look and see how we have made ourselves known, how we've helped build our community, and how we've served the youth of central Toledo.

Over the last few years, we have...

- Donated an elephant to the Toledo Zoo;

- Provided funding for Muddy's Marsh Playground at Fifth Third Field;

- Provided annual scholarships to Toledo High School Seniors;

- Sponsored an annual Fishing Derby;

- Provided the Living Stream at The Toledo Zoo;

- Financed and maintained the facility of The Assistance Dogs of America;

- Sponsored an annual Punt, Pass, and Kick program;

- Sponsored the Power Hour after school tutoring program for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Toledo;

- Hosted a school-wide Christmas party for Sherman Elementary School;

- Hosted the entire student body and staff from Sherman Elementary School at a Mud Hens baseball game;

- Purchased and organized the construction of playground equipment at Mom's House; and

- Supported the Woodward High School Key Club, University of Toledo Circle K Club, Ohio Reads, YMCA of Greater Toledo, Children's Miracle Network, Bethany House, Toledo Hearing and Speech Center, Easter Seals Summer Camp, and the Iodine Definciency Disorder Campaign organized by Kiwanis International.

And these are just some of things we've accomplished. Our record of community service goes back to 1916!
